I’ve ALWAYS loved jewelry and have memories as a little girl of dress up, playing in family jewelry boxes and began collecting costume jewelry at an early age. My Dad’s girlfriend was always well dressed and dripping in beautiful, stylish and well put together jewelry pieces, it was a huge influence.
What do you like most about your business?
Definitely the “one-on-one” experience I get to have with my customers. It’s a personal journey with great personal reward and satisfaction.
My shop is located in an old house that has been converted so sharing the building’s history is fun. The shop is small, peaceful and tranquil which allows for a terrific browsing experience and easy conversation with my customers.
Any particular challenges?
I would say the misconception that custom work must be expensive. I can easily work a beautiful gift into literally almost any budget, for example: I worked with a Skidmore student recently whose college student girlfriend was in another state. He wanted something really special for their one-year anniversary and we worked together to create a piece that incorporated gem stones and an engraving on a student budget. She was so surprised and so happy and I loved being a part of it.
What else would you like the neighborhood to know about you?
Probably that I can do more than just custom work. I do have my degree as a Graduate Bench Jeweler and I am certified to do diamond appraisals from the Gemological Institute of America. That means that I am glad to do repair work, even the delicate work involved with fine gold.
Anything else?
Can I say “Jewelry Party!” These are so much fun and I truly love offering them…such a fun way to spend a girls night out with good, drinks, special friends and jewelry that is unique for gift giving.
